International Women's Day
Evelyn Stanyon worked at The Alvey for over 50 years, joining as a pupil in 1906. Unfortunately her brother was killed in WW1 and is remembered on a our project 72 memorial outside the school.
Mary Beavis was Headmistress during WW1 when she also worked as VAD Nurse on Boston Road. Mary was still Head during the second World War when she was awarded a silver brooch for efficiently evacuating the children to the school's air raid shelters.
Mrs Browning and Mrs Robinson have both worked at the school for over 30 years, initiating change throughout their time at the school and always encouraging the children to do their best.
