Project 72 is our own project to create a permanent war memorial in remembrance of the 72 children from William Alvey who fought and died in WWI. We have £300 from the chocolate tombola and film night, £50 from the British Legion, a £2000 grant for the Lincolnshire Diocese of Education and a £5000 grant from the Mukherjee trust. We would like to raise another £700 ourselves. Project 72 will also form part of a bigger Sleaford art project called ‘When in Sleaford’. This is a town art trail that will link some of the existing art work and sculptures in town with some newly created pieces, including our war memorial. David Mackie, you can google him to see some of his work, has been chosen to lead the project.
