Remembrance Day Service

This is Edwin Vernon Cracknell who lived at 20 Eastgate, he went to the Alvey and died in WWI in 1915 along with four other soldiers who went to the school as children. Vernon joined up because "it made his blood boil to read of the way the Germans were treating the women and children in Belgium". We'll find out more about Vernon in our Armistice Service on Wednesday (information provided by John Dale and Linda Bayley).
