I am very proud of our school and I hope you can make time to visit.

We are a large school but with a small school atmosphere. Our size enables us to provide opportunities for all the children that just would not be possible at a smaller school. Our dance teacher works here full-time, we have three specialist music teachers, orchestra, various music groups and an infant and junior choir. We offer a wide range of after school clubs offering skilled instruction in sport, ICT, drama, music and art. We are very successful in local and national sporting events, we like to win but we have not forgotten that taking part, fair play and sportsmanship are equally important.

There are 30 children in each class and three classes in each year group. Every year group has a designated year group leader. The teachers plan together every week to ensure all the children get the same high quality offer. As a large school, we have the income to enable us to employ additional staff to enhance our offer. For example, we have a pastoral manger and a non teaching SENDCO.

Pupils at The William Alvey are happy, well-behaved and motivated. Our curriculum is engaging, stimulating and based around children's interests. The school day is carefully structured with daily literacy, numeracy and phonics lessons. In Reception, there is a balance between adult-led and child-initiated activities.

The best way to make an informed decision about if the Alvey is the school for your child is to come and have a look round during the school day. I love showing parents round the Alvey because I am so proud of the children and what they do. Please ring the school office to arrange your tour.

With very best wishes,

Shaun Farrington
Head Teacher

School Uniform

We like all our children to wear school uniform and they look incredibly smart. You can buy it from the Arion Shop in Sleaford or you can order it online from Uniform Direct

The School Day

Come rain or shine, the Head and Deputy Head stand at the entrance gate every morning and afternoon to welcome the children.

At the start of the day:

The gates open at 8.40am.

The doors open at 8.45 am.

At the end of the day:

The gates open at 3.10pm.

Reception and KS1 (Year 1 and Year 2) leave at 3.15pm and only leave the classroom when a designated adult arrives.

KS2 (years 3, 4, 5 and 6) leave at 3.25pm. Year 3 children are collected from near their classrooms by their parents. The other KS2 children walk down to the front of school to meet their parents or walk home.

Breakfast and After School Care

Kaleidoscope Kids' Club run a very successful before and after school club from our new school hall. If you are interested in booking a place please call Keith on: 01529 414464.

The school offers breakfast and after school care for our nursery children - please see the 'Little Hoots' tab in the Early Years section of the website.

Walking Buses

We run a walking bus from the Spar on Grantham Road. You can drop your child off, for a small fee, with a paid member of school staff from 8.15am. The 'bus' and their 'conductor' will then walk to school without you having to drive and park outside the school. Simply ring and book a place: 01529 302772.

Lunchtime Arrangements

All Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children are offered free hot lunches provided by Good Lookin Cookin. We will give you a password and you can then log onto their website to tick the meal options for your child. If you know your child likes roast dinner on Monday you tick Monday and if you know they won't like lasagne on Tuesday you put a cross and then send in a packed lunch instead. The menus are available a term in advance.

Key Stage 2 all eat packed lunches.
